2021 Season Information

Hello from AGSL. We hope that all of you continue to remain healthy and are finding ways to get through the COVID-19 pandemic.

House league registration for 2021 is going to be open as of January 1, 2021.

The A Division will start the first weekend of May; AA and AAA will start the second weekend in May; Majors will start on July 15, 2021; Seniors will start in the fall and will coincide with the Lou Gehrig Senior Division as we play each other - dates TBD.

A COVID-19 waiver is now required for each player in order to complete the registration process.
At this time, the season is scheduled to start in May and finish in July, as per prior years.  However, please note that this is subject to change based upon the rules and regulations in place by local and state government in response to COVID-19.  Please understand that there could be a delay in the start date as a result.  Our goal is to make sure that each girl can play in a fun and safe environment.  AGSL cares about the health and safety of the board members, players, families and the community.  We will continue to take whatever actions we feel are necessary to accomplish this.  Last year, we implemented safety measures and increased sanitization.  Those measures will remain in place.  In the event that we are again requested to limit the number of specatators, we will comply with all government mandates.  In order to register, you must read and agree to be bound by the terms of the COVID-19 waiver below:

COVID-19 Waiver

I acknowledge the contagious nature of the Coronavirus/COVID-19 and that the CDC and many other public health authorities recommend practicing social distancing.

I further acknowledge that Amherst Girls Softball League (“AGSL”) will instruct coaches, board members and staff to act in accordance with applicable state and federal guidelines in place to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus/COVID-19.  AGSL will take additional precautions, i.e. sanitizing stations, placarding/notices, etc. in an effort to comply with applicable guidelines in effect.

I further acknowledge that AGSL cannot guarantee that my child will not become infected with the Coronavirus/COVID-19.  I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to and/or infected by the Coronavirus/COVID-19 may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of the coaching staff and others, including, but not limited to, other players, parents and their families along with any spectators.

I am voluntarily choosing to permit my child to play softball with AGSL and acknowledge the possible risk to exposure to the Coronavirus/COVID-19. I acknowledge and agree that my child must comply with all set procedures to reduce the spread while attending and participating in practice and games and while at the AGSL complex.

I attest that I will not send my child to practice if:
* She is experiencing any symptom of illness such as cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell.
* She has traveled internationally within the last 14 days.
* She has traveled out of state within the United States of America in the last 14 days.
* I believe that she has been exposed to someone with a suspected and/or confirmed case of the Coronavirus/COVID-19.
* My child or anyone in the household or someone that she has come into contact with has been diagnosed with Coronavirus/COVID-19 and not yet cleared as non-contagious by state or local public health authorities.
* My child and I will follow all CDC recommended guidelines as much as possible and limiting my exposure to the Coronavirus/COVID-19.

I hereby release and agree to hold AGSL harmless from, and waive on behalf of myself, my child, my heirs, and any personal representatives any and all causes of action, claims, demands, damages, costs, expenses and compensation for damage or loss to myself, my child and/or property that may be caused by any act, or failure to act of AGSL, or that may otherwise arise in any way in connection with playing softball on an AGSL team.  I understand that this release discharges AGSL from any liability or claim that I (on behalf of myself and my child), my heirs, or any personal representatives may have against AGSL with respect to any bodily injury, illness, death, medical treatment, or property damage that may arise from, or in connection to participating in youth softball with an AGSL team. This liability waiver and release extends to AGSL together with coaches and board members.

This year we have decided to keep the early bird pricing as the pricing for the entire season.  We feel that many people are suffering financially and every little bit that you can save is helpful.  A level will continue to be free of charge, except for the $40 fundraising fee (note that there is only one fundraising fee per family).

We will attempt to hold clinics when safe to do so.  We wanted to hold clinics and pick up games last year but it was determined that the health and safety of the girls, the wishes of many parents and the rules and regulations in existence at the time resulted in cancelling such activities.  We are hopeful that conditions will improve such that we can again resume clinics.  There will be no clinics in January, February or March 2021 due to COVID-19 but we will continually re-evaluate as new information and guidelines become available.

Registration fees are non-refundable, however, in the event that the season is cancelled due to COVID-19, we will again refund registration fees.  We look forward to this upcoming season!  Wishing you all a happy, healthy and safe 2021!

We do have several open positions on our board.  We would love to hear from anyone that may have any interest in being on the board.  Meetings are once a month for a few hours and each person has a position that would require additional time.  Board members also serve as the director on duty during the season while games are played.  Each shift is a few hours long and the number of shifts depends on the number of board members we have at the time.  Each open position has different responsibilities.  Being a part of the board is a very rewarding experience.  We would love to have your input and value your ideas to continue to make AGSL a wonderful league, particularly at this time as the Town of Amherst is building AGSL a brand new, state of the art complex, which should be ready for the 2022 season.   If anyone is interested, please email Michelle Maccagnano.

Lastly, we are always looking for anyone interested in coaching.  If you are interested, whether you are a returning coach from a prior year or a prospective coach, please email Michelle Maccagnano.

We appreciate all of the comments and questions we have been receiving and any additional questions and concerns can be directed to Michelle Maccagnano, AGSL Commissioner at mmaccagnano@aol.com
